Hi there!
ANNOUNCEMENT: As of November, 2016, the Binary Bindery is no longer accepting new clients.
We will, of course, continue to service our established clients. We will announce as soon as we are back to business as usual.
Thank you!
If you're using Microsoft Word™—and most authors do— here are a couple tips to help cut down on the amount of proofreading by authors required during the ebook review and testing phase. This post is meant to raise awareness, and to help cut down on the side-effects of track changes, hyphenation and special fonts. We seem to be running into these issues more and more often lately, probably due to an increasing number of authors who use the same source files for CreateSpace and The Bindery.
Feel free to email with any questions or concerns.
Beginning 13 October, 2015, the Bindery has new office hours:
Expect response delays before 2 pm Monday through Friday.
Be assured we're paying attention to emails; either Meg or Nancy will respond as soon as possible.
Thank you!
When it comes to e-book production, there is more than one way to skin a cat.
Some formatters use aggregators (usually a series of scripts) to produce files. Others convert Microsoft Word™ filtered HTML into different formats. Both are quick, easy methods that promise quick turnaround with a few costly drawbacks.
The Bindery's production method is not the fastest or simplest method out there. We take a source document and strip it down to raw HTML, the base language of today's digital formats. Every header, every break, every special-formatting feature is manually applied and thoroughly tested to ensure a client's files have all the professional-grade bells and whistles, plus a long shelf-life.
Our method works extremely well for major retailer portals like Amazon's Kindle Desktop Publishing, Barnes & Noble's Nook Press, Kobo, Apple, Google Play... basically every retailer a self-publisher needs these days.
Authors need their precious time to write, edit and promote. Let The Binary Bindery shoulder the fine-tooth-comb details of ebook production. Query Meg anytime with questions, queries a/o quote requests.
